Berberine 500 mg by Integrative Therapeutics provides berberine hydrochloride — an active constituent of Phellodendron amurense root and other plants with centuries of use in traditional Chinese and herbal medicine. Berberine activates AMPK (adenosine monophosphate kinase), an enzyme that plays a role in normal glucose metabolism through an insulin-independent mechanism. This formula has been the subject of human randomized placebo-controlled trials.
