Since their establishment in in 1987, Omega Nutrition manufactures organic flaxseed oil from the highest and purest quality materials available. They began a process called Omegaflo, which protects essential fatty acids found in seeds from potential damage from heat, oxygen and light. When making their products, Omega Nutrition create small batches at a time to ensure that the flavor, nutrients and freshness will be maintained.
Refined oils and commercial oils are not used in Omega Nutrition’s products. When trans-fatty acids are under pressure from extreme heat (hydrogenation), cell walls are weakened and are left vulnerable. Most refined oils are processed at 446 degrees F or at 230 degrees C. Omega Nutrition process their EFA oils at 86 to 90 degrees F or at 30 to 33 degrees C to avoid cell degeneration.
Unlike other manufacturers that package their products in clear or coloured bottles and thereby allowing light infiltration, Omega Nutrition uses BPA (bisphenol-A) free high density polyethylene plastic (HDPE) to package their products. This does a better job at protecting oils from being exposed to light and oxidation. When oil is damaged from light exposure, oil will react with photosensitive chlorophyte found in unrefined oils.
