Our bone health is so important as the bones keep us up and going. They do so because our body replenishes and strengthens them in combination with the nutrients we provide from our diet. If we do not consume the right foods, put excessive strain on the bones, or refrain from supplementing our diet as we age, bone health will suffer.
The bones provide us a sturdy structure to walk, bend and lift things off of the counter. Our bones are in constant flux, losing and gaining back mass. The thickness and strength of our bones isn't guaranteed, though, and they change as we age.
Calcium is a large part of our bones' makeup, so a sufficient amount is necessary to keep them strong. Vitamin D helps the body absorb that calcium so that we maintain our bone health. Maintaining bone health is essential to leading a healthy, active life.
