Douglas Labs' Lutein is a carotenoid vitamin with many potential uses and benefits. Lutein is a natural antioxidant carotenoid found in certain plants, such as the petals of Marigold flowers. A significant amount of zeaxanthin, a carotenoid similar in structure and function to lutein is also contained in each softgel. It closely resembles beta-carotene and vitamin A.

This vitamin may potentially be absorb into the body better and faster when taken with a full meal that is high in fat. It is commonly known for its benefit to eye health, such as inhibiting eye diseases like age-related macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, retinopathy of prematurity, eye strain, and cataracts.

Lutein has been shown to potentially improve recovery after exercising, and may help in increasing memory and mental function in older women, as well as speaking function.

Lutein has been used by individuals to possibly help with:
