About Vitamin B - 1 Thiamine

Vitamin B1, also known as thiamine, is found in many foods such as yeast, beans, nuts, meat, and cereal grains. It is most often used in combination with other B vitamin supplements and found in many vitamin B complex products. Low levels of vitamin B1 can cause inflammation of the nerves known as neuritis. In order for the human body to properly process and use carbohydrates, it requires thiamine.

Thiamine can help with digestive problems including a decreased appetite, ulcerative colitis, and chronic diarrhea. It has also been used for strengthening the immune system, diabetic pain, alcoholism, canker sores, motion sickness, and increasing athletic performance.

Other people take vitamin B1 for its ability to help in maintaining a good mood and positive mental attitude. It is also been known to help fight stress and prevent memory loss. In addition, it can improve eye health and decrease the risk of cataracts and other vision problems.
