Iron is a mineral that is necessary for the proper function of many organs and tissues of the human body. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that is also essential for the health of multiple organ systems.

The main function of iron is to combine with copper and protein to create hemoglobin. Hemoglobin, which is present in red blood cells, is responsible for carrying oxygen throughout the bloodstream to the cells of the human body. Iron is also need to create myoglobin, which carries oxygen to the muscle tissue in order to facilitate muscle contractions.

While Vitamin C has many functions, the reason Pure Encapsulations added it to Iron-C is because this water-solution vitamin increases the absorption of iron by the intestines.
