Maca 4 oz by Herb Pharm potentially promotes healthy sexual libido, function and fertility. Maca extract is a tincture of organically grown roots from the plant Lepidium meyenii. Herb Pharm uses only roots from plants grown at high altitudes in Peru.

Lepidium meyenii is a plant commonly known as maca. It has been grown for thousands of years in the high Andes of Peru. The root of the plant was used for food for both livestock and people, and was also traditionally used to improve the fertility of livestock and as an aphrodisiac for people. The plant is related to the turnip and radish. The roots come in a variety of colors and flavors. Red maca has been shown in animal studies to reduce the size of the prostate in rats.

Maca is rich in minerals such as zinc and selenium that may be essential for reproductive health. It has been used to possibly boost fertility, as a remedy to help alleviate some menopausal symptoms, and to potentially increase energy and stamina. Maca has also been traditionally used to increase sexual desire and to treat erectile dysfunction. Some compounds in maca may act like estrogens.

Please note, individuals with breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer or uterine fibroids should NOT use maca. Consuming large amounts of uncooked maca can cause goiters to form.

The product is to be taken three or four times a day, preferably between meals. Take up to 50 drops in 2 ounces of juice or water at each time. Maca by Herb Pharm is also available in capsules or as a powder.
