Benfotiamine is a lipid-soluble form of thiamin that is better absorbed and has a longer duration of action than water-soluble thiamin. It works by activating transketolase activity, which helps to convert harmful glucose metabolites and positively affects the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs). Benfotiamine supports peripheral nerve health and may also support vascular health, including the microvasculature of the retina and kidney.
Some of the possible benefits of Benfotiamine:
- Supports healthy thiamin status
- Supports vascular health
- Supports nerve health
- May help reduce the risk of diabetic neuropathy
- May help improve cognitive function in people with Alzheimer's disease
